Depends what wall voltage they use in Japan. America has 110v coming from its outlets while Europe uses 230v. I haven't the faintest on japan though. :?
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Japan uses 100V mains so no.... Japanese adapaters are NOT suitable for use in the US. US voltage is 120-125V these days where I live. It's been creeping up for decades a volt or two at a time. Running a wall-wart at 125% is asking for meltdown.

As a side note.... depending on what island you're on, the power is either 50Hz or 60Hz.  :o

That's the great thing about standards.... there are so many to choose from. ;)

Take care,

Do you mean some DC jacks and plugs diameter?

Some japanese equipment commonly used ones that were just a little different size than some common european ones, like european common was 3,5 mm and japanese used something like 3,8 mm (dunno if I remember the numbers)

It was just so small difference you could not easily see the difference, and you could plug a 3,5 mm to a 3,8 socket, but it was not so reliable...

And you could stuff 3,8 to 3,5...

thanx for the replies.
  here's he deal:
i have a cliet in sweden that wants to use the device in japan most the time. i need to find the right adapter. all my pedals can run on a "boss" type adapter.[ 9v 200-300mA, input:120V~60Hz6w , type thang ]
   maybe i should contact roland/japan?
       thanx,

One way around that is to use a US adapter that still puts out enough power when run from 100V at 50Hz (the plugs are the same Edison style), just don't try it the other way around. ;)

An adapter that puts out 12V in the US should do the trick nicely.

Good luck!

it's 100V 50Hz/60Hz east-/western Japan. Two-prong non-polarized plugs are standard (most outlets are two-prong I guess the same as the old U.S. standard??), FWIW.
