After reading a topic on Red Lama I decided to try TSF one more time. My previous attempts didn't really work all that good.

I changed the thing a bit so it may not sound the same now, but the essential properties associated with CMOS are probably still there.
Mine has three stages cascaded, first one is identical to original, second one has a 470k res in the feedback loop (orig - 1M), then it is all fed into third stage. Some interesting stuff happens there. I noticed a 100k resistor on a Hot Harmonics shematic for limiting the input to the third stage. I wired a 500k pot as a variable there and got some very interesting effects. With almost no resistance the sound gets very compressed at the attack, than gets more distorted on the sustain and release. Very unusual and unexpected (by yours truly) activity for a solid-state component.
Second interesting observation. Progressive reduction of the value of the interstage capacitors allows for some really gainy hard hard sounds.  Third stage that I added has a 470k resistor too, than to 10Mf cap and to volume (reminiscent of original). 10mf allows all* the signal through so you may want to brighten things up a dat before you slam your 4x12 marshall cabinet. (not that I have one but you may)  :)

It (this mutant, blood meal for the plants that plowed) has a little disadvantage, that is it hisses a bit, need to find a way to deal with that. Otherwise it is very good and dynamic. I never actually realised what the Masters of this forum said about an overdrive sounding dynamically untill I played this perfectly working mutant TSF.

Ok, theinteresting stuff. input cap - 0.047
first interstage - 0.033
second - for you to pick your own (0.1-0.001 huge difference, adjust to taste. Yes, I am from a multicultural city of Toronto, have to respect a chance of a DIYer to have access to an uninfluenced choice.  :D )
One more thing - you may want to try a tone control.
All the best, my 7 cents in theTSF piggybank.

I would like to thank the academy....................................... 8)
