So I went and copied the noise gate project from EPFM today at the library.  I didn't notice it refrenced an earlier project with reguards to the gimmik capacitor.  It mentions frabicating the cap in the same mannor as project 26.  What is he talking about?  I won't mind going back to the library to see (there is a cute girl that works there) but I can't till late next week.  Thanks

 It was just two pieces short lenght of insulated wire twisted together, solder other ends to hot and ground lug (or whatever) and leave other ends unconnected open. And it stood in the book that you can replace it with small cap

Was it 5 pf or somethin, for start

I'd like to post an opinion on that "gimick cap" thing.

I made these years ago, and installed them in various places, effects. guitars etc but personally I won't use 'em any more, nope a decent ceramic monolithic cap of say 10pF (or 47 to be sure) seems to work SO MUCH BETTER.

IMHO

Gimmick caps are great when you need a 6.7pF cap. :D

It's this sort of thing that made me head toward digital at an early age.

Take care,
