Hi there!

just finished building the Foxx Tone Machine (used the schem from GGG), boy that pedal sounds great, even without the octave effect  :D . I built it on stripboard, and I used 2N3904's for transistors and 1N60's for diodes. Killer sound, and easier to build than I thought.

Just in case anyone is interested I thought I'd post my board layout here. Hope anyone can use it.

Cheers
Nils

Thats sweet, about the same size as the PCB version i used, and looks even a little simpler.
And i dont know why, but i think stripboard looks better than a PCB, adds to the DIY feel and the "i made this" factor  :D

Sorry lads, the pic had an error I forgot to fix, corrected and re-uploaded it.

I think it's great fun doing this stripboard stuff; I've never done a PCB, so I can't comment on how's that, but I like the creative part of designing a stripboard . Also the stripboard leaves a little more room to modify the circuit than a PCB does. The FTM seems to work very well on stripboard, too; I've built a MXR Phase 45 on stripboard which was quite a hassle with 2 opamps 8) .

Hey Nil's, Thank's for sharin your build with us, it look's Super Dude !  8)
I love perf board, it makes you learn the circuit from front to rear, this way I get more out of the build, I understand more about how it work's, and like Punkaled said " It has that I made it look "

hey - looks great!

Where do you get stripboard?  The stuff at mouser is _way_ overpriced...

nils

I get mine either at a small local electronics store or from Conrad; pretty much my only sources here in northern germany.

Hi!

I truly hate stripboard! Everything i build on it dosnt work right, i believe i am cursed!    :(

It takes a fair amount of concentration to build something on perf, but stripboard? ;) Good job!
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Torchy

I build almost everything on vero ... sorry, stripboard. If I like it I pcb it. Do you have a url for the template for the bare board (as in your jpg) ? I got one but not as good as that ...

nils

hmm I don't know what you mean by template.... I drew the whole board in Micrografx Windows Draw... I don't know if it would be useful to you or if you can import it into some other prog, but if you want I can send you the original drawing. Just drop me a note  :D .

torchy - i have one, but i bet its the same as yours....

like gray and dark grey ?

Torchy

Thats the one - really poor.
Actually just nicked the one above and cleaned it up in PaintShop - happy now :)

Think I'll go through the ones I have already, tart them up and post them. Might save someone some time for stripboard layouts that work

i alwaus work out my stripboard layouts using lined paper and a pencil, seems an extra hassle to use a computer for it.

RDV

I'm not familiar, are the Xs where you cut the strips?

RDV

nils

yes, the X's are where you cut.

I too always use paper and pencil, but then I do it on the PC because it's better to read and to conserve it.
