Bass preamp opinions? 360+ or Kreuzer j-fet pre?

I'm contemplating building some kind of bass preamp to give me a nicer sound and a bit more control over my EQ etc when DI-ing at gigs.  I was just wondering whether anyone had any recommendations one way or the other on these two designs.  I play electric upright, so I'm going for maximum cleanness most of the time (I'd probably leave out the fuzz in a 360), but having flexible EQ, particularly in the midrange is quite important.  Anyone had good experiences with either of these?

Kreuzer seems to know his s*it and his pre is on my to-do list.I'd go for that one.

the kreuzer would prob be a better preamp as far as the amplification goes.  the acoustic has a better eq in my opinion (especially in the midrange with the variamp).  try putting the acoustic tone controls on the kreuzer front end.

Hmm.....mix&match?  That sounds like an interesting approach, and one I hadn't thought of.  I'd probably keep JC's 5532 balanced output from the 360+ too.  Does the variamp act mostly as a notch filter or can it also boost?  I believe it may be time to dig out my breadboard.....
