OT: Securing Pedals / Where to get Dual Lock?

Anyone want to share ideas about securing pedals to a pedal board or rack tray?  I've heard of using bike chain links or 3M Dual Lock.  

Speaking of Dual Lock... Where's a good place to get some?  RS has it but at a premium $$.

Velcro seems to be used a lot for that kind of stuff...

Go to a local fabric store. They will probably sell industrial velcro by the meter. Look for the wide stuff. Say 6cm wide. Should be cheap too. Make sure you buy both sides of the velcro. Some hareware supply stores will sell pre-packaged stuff as well.

I've used wide industrial velcro in the past (got from Wal*Mart).  It has always held my pedals on the board-- even something as big and heavy as a Boss GT-6, but there's always a bit of 'play'.  I'm trying to eliminate that play.

Great idea. The dual-lock is overkill, I used industrial velcro on my board and  it takes some --serious--  work to move it.

I used really cheap velcro (for the germans: from conrad) and it holds the pedals in place very tightly (even my Tube Rotosphere). It came in strips of 10cm x 50cm and cost 0,50 Euro. I didn't trust the glue though, so in addition I used small nails on the fluffy side (my board's made of wood) to make absolutely sure nothing comes off. Been on the road with my board, and nothing ever came off.

Long term short: 3M dual lock indeed seems to be overkill  :wink:

I've used pedalboards with real coarse carpet (like auto carpet) on the base.  I've secured my pedals to it using the hook portion of industrial strength Velcro.  For safety's sake, I've glued the hook strip to my pedals instead of using the provided adhesive.  Contact cement or a tolulene-based adhesive works well for this.  Forget about cyanoacrylate ("Krazy Glue")!

I wouldn't rely on velcro if you were sending a board anywhere by post or freight in general.

home depot has some chain that can be opened up and screwed in...might need a washer for some pedals....

its cheep, like $1 a foot, which should be enough for most pedal boards.   You should know which one im talking about if you go.

play your cards right and you can score samples of velcro from your local salesperson. Check out http://www.velcro.com, send them an email along the lines of "I have a special requirement blah... can your product "such and such" perform this task... blah... can I obtain sample quantitys for testing in my product... blah..."

Local Hardware stores have the industrial velcro as well. I've been using it since forever BUT the cool dual lock is much better, but I don't know where to get it.
