I'd like to add some gentle lighting to the back of my rack.  There seem to be many products out there for tricking out PC's and cars.  These run off USB or 12 Vdc and include a multitude of features such as sound activated blinking and such.

I just want a simple blue LED light that I can turn on/off when needed.  A stick on tube or stick which runs on 9 Vdc would be nice.

Anyone find anything or done anything like this before?

I know I could get a super bright LED and put a current limiting resistor in series with it to be done with it-- but if a product already exists then I'd just buy one.

I'd be going battery powered. Try looking around camping stores for "tent lights" or the local department store for "convenience" lights and such.  Many of these are LED based, just swap out the whites for blues.
