Hi,

i am back after a period of much work in my job...

I finished my two Channel Drive/Distortion and called it ColdFire Pro
Its based on a Tubescreamer 808 Circuit, but heavy modified for better
Sounding.

Who likes do listen to some Sounds...
Its played with an Epiphone SG 400 (Korina Model) into an old 60th
Hohner Orgaphone MH25 Amp (an old German 18Watt TubeCombo)
I made some cleansounds for reference.

Channel1 containes an original TS808 Circuit with a little bit more Output
and Channel2 is made from the same Circuit, but with a Gainstage containing two 1N4004 Diodes and one AC128 Transistor for the Clipping.
It souds a bit more dry and rough than the TS808.
Both Channel can be switched between Overdrive/CleanBoost=CompCut/Distortion=HardClipping
And they can be switched from Normal resonance Frequency (typical little Basscut in Overdrives) over TrebleBoost to BASS (slightly more Bass above the normal response = makes a good sound in the Distortionmodus)

The LED from Channel1 is green to remember the TS808 and the other Channel LED is clear blue.

here the Link to the sounds (in the zip i packed all soundfiles together for an easyer download)

Nice looking build !!!  8) How did you cram all that in one box? Any inside pics?

Wow...that's a LOT of build in one box! (the inside of that has to be either VERY neat or VERY messy)...what did you do with the power supply? single PS?

Mike Nichting

Very nice Oliver~!!
Can we see the insides??
Where are the sound clips??
Keep up the good work bro.

Sounds PDGood ! ! ! Isn't that more distorted sounding than a TS?
I don't remember TS's getting that raunchy of a crunch...
 Fine Job on the boxx!

Hi and Thanxx  :D

the circuitboard is very small, it dont need much to make the TS circuit as versatile - i use the Input Stage (Buffer) for both circuits and left the Output Buffer away. That makes the Output more agressive. And i only have to build the main Stages to switch between Ch1 and Ch2.

The TS Stage is not 100%original - i used an 1M Pot for Gain and
to get more Level (my settings for nealy same level as Bypass is about 10 o Clock) i changed the resistor value at the Pins 6 and 7 from 1K to 5K6
and changed the cap value in the Gainstage to a 200pF one to prevent
oszillation.

It uses one PowerSupply...

here are some more pics - i dont have an actual one from the inside, but
made two from the circuitboard during the building - the final version looks
a bit different, because i changed one Gainstage.
The Inside of the Box looks a bit messy, because of the many wires to the switches and Pots.
The Circuit board can be placed in a Hammond 1950BB, but needs more Headroom - i only had some too big 100uF caps - if they were smaller, it could be placed into the 1950BB. (to be optimized) - That one below is the Prototype...

bye Oliver

about 1,9mb zip - containing 9 mp3 soundfiles

Hi,

what soundfile do you refer?
I build in a hard clipping section, where you can swith to. That makes a very distorted sound - perhapst like an Ibanez Sonic Distortion...
