dpdt v/s 3pdt grounding question

i ussually use 3pdt switches and every now and then a dpdt switch and i was wondering= On the 3ptd you run a ground from the board to the switch but on many of the dpdt diagrams ive seen lately there is no ground from the board to the switch..HOw would that still work w/o a ground?

The switch is only grounded on a "Input Grounded" wiring, otherwise it is not.
