Hello all, this is my first question to the group.

I am looking for an overdrive for my bass, I want something that’s not to harsh. I have been looking at building a BSIAB II or a  McTube. Would I get a very similar results form both or would one stand out from the other? Or is there something else that could be recommended.

Thanks

A bit more complex, the Flipster over at http://runoffgroove.com/salvo.html gives a nice over-driven tone.

the one BASS plaYER SWoRE BY HIS LoVE FoR THE BIG MUFF< I THOuGHT IT WAS MUDDY For GuItAR and didn't WoRK RIGHT...mayBE tHERE's some mileagE there
Last week we used the Supreaux [serving as preamp] into a 150w amp, and it really worked well for a drivey [not harsh] bass preamp...actually amazed me how well it served as preamp.

The Big Muff sounds great for bass.  The BMP clone I built sounds even better.  I used germanium diodes for the second clipping stage and it gives it a nice warm overdrive, especially when used as a boost for my wife's 70's SVT.

Fulltone Bass Drive..

Build a Tube screamer clone.. Change the Voicing cap (The cap on the resistor from the inverting input of the frist opamp) To 220nF

In the real Bass-Drive there is an extra cap and resistor somethere sorry can't tell you where they are..

Best of Luck

want something real simple (for bass this is nice). If you can't build a BMP, do a transistor Muff fuzz on bass. My and my bud got the exact sound from the intro with a squier affinty P bass, a frontman 15B an a Muff fuzz (with NTE123Ap's in it.).

It might be the bassist and tube lover in me talking, but your wife is really cute.
