Just built Christians "Buzz Box" which is a very simple circuit, not boxed yet and used 2N3904 trannies as per the schem. They are socketed too.
I get guitar signal through with no battery attached, but nothing with power connected ! i expected a bit of hum due to the lack of box/ground but have grounded the jacks and board to - bat terminal.
Any ideas ? i'm stumped !
Output is from 10uf cap to vol lug 3, then lug 2 to jack and lug 1 grounded, i think this is correct ?  or . . . . .
Thanks,
Marty.

Audio probe and pin voltages aside...this one has 'twists' that the probe may not straighten..ie you will find where the signal is stopping, but the problem is likely misorientation of a transistor or diode or cap.
I'ts a look and find affair I think. Looks simple and low parts, but everything has to be right or it probably won't work.

Double-check the orientation of the transistors and diodes.  Also, make sure that all ground points are connected.

Thanks guys, a valuable lesson learned ..... ALWAYS check the pin out of your transistors !!!   aaarrgghhhhh !!!!

Now it works like a treat ! even is quiet and hum free out of a box !  v-cool thanks to ROG and christian for another "little cracker "

Great!  I'm glad it's working now.  It is pretty noise-free, due to the gating inherent in the design.
