I am trying to make a homemade kill switch out of just a piece of metal because it needs to be thin there isn't any room for drill hole mounting.  Anyhoo I drew this little picture of what i planned on doing with a little statement of the problem.

I need it to stay up at all times so I thought if I installed a small spring this would allow it to be pushed down and then return to open state when not pressed.

Now my question is how should I attatch it so that it is always bent/bendable on the side that is always connected (hope that makes sense).

Thanks

you can get switches like this. In fact, there's some places that will actually accept artwork from you and "print" switches to your custom specifications.

Salvage them from old microwaves...

Rather than inserting a spring, how's about you try to find a source of thin, sprung steel. That way, the spring is integral!

useful keywords" "snap dome".
"metal dome switch"

A problem using commercial or salvage snap switches, is they are nearly always "momentary make" rather than break.
But a little ingenuity will see you through!
