You know the things :)

I'd like to have a breaker unit in order to let me turn my amp at high volumes, just without the actual volume....

My am is a Marshall DSL100 100watt Valve amp. I know marshall makes these things but i was hoping for a more cost effective one to build. But it HAS to be safe for my amp as it's my baby...

Thanks again guys...

So what you want is a pedal to let you turn right up and get those smooooth tones but without the actual volume?

Will it go between amp and cab?

That sounds like a good idea to me!  Any suggestions guys?

It goes between the amp and the cab I believe...

Like I said, Marshall make these babies and the guitar store near me makes them themselves...

I think that's what you're looking for
apparently a voltage divider would work
good luck finding 100w resistors :PPP

I think there should be better ways of doing it but I don't know how.. sorry

You need an attenuator? If so go to...

Adam's and Randall's articles are required reading if you want to build one.  DON'T try making the one on the Blue Guitar site, at least not as posted--that design is for 25 watt output max.  Even if you try upgrading the parts, you will still have a heck of a problem handling the heat that will generate.

Ted Webber is now selling attenuators, and I think they are quite a bit cheaper than the Marshal Powerbrake that you are referring to.  But be warned:  the tone will never be quite the same, in part because you hear differently at different volumes (that's why your stereo has a "loudness" switch) and in part because how the speaker handles all of that volume is part of where the tone comes from.

yeah,  Ben is correct. you won't get the same tone because there are a lot of variables in LOUD tone. Speaker break up being one.

Good luck,

I recommend getting the webervst.com MASS unit.

You can get the driver alone and build your own.

It's good.
