The smaller things that you can build are the Bazz Fuss (home-wrecker.com, in articles) or a LM386 based distortion.

How small is small?
Got an enclosure in mind?

The MXR+/DOD 250 distortion PCB on GGG is only 2" x 1" and it could be cut down to 1.5" x 1" if your handy with a vector drawing program like Corel.
I can't think of any one knob distortions. Anyone know? Looks like you will be mounting at least two pots. I guess you could use fixed resistors or trim pots.

ooh ooh I just remembered.  Blue Clipper at Tonepad.com - No pots, but larger PCB at 1" x 2.25 and I guessing less versatile than the DOD.
It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
Maybe I can afford one, if I do a little less drinking. - Fred Eaglesmith
