i'm bored, so i thought i'd share pics of some of the stuff i've been working on over the past coupla weeks (and about a month ago, in the case of the last one). i'm still not the neatest person, but they sound cool (imo) and they're sturdy enough. the first two are ones i've made to give away - i already have my own, but as i'm sure you guys know, half the fun is in the process.

first, an Engineer's Thumb compressor. i had to fix some noise issues caused by some settings when using all 5 knobs, which i just ignore with my own ET, but i figured this one had to be more user-friendly. i was just gonna put a Ratio pot, but thought i'd just go the whole 9 yards and put Threshold too. Millennium Bypass also activates a gain reduction LED (which i found surprisingly useful on my own build) and shunts the input to ground, to remedy a weird ticking i've had on both builds (also related to certain pot settings, methinks):

next is a modded TS-808, also near-identical to my own (although this one uses a TL072 instead of my 4558 & has some other differences). it has basic gain mods and a clipping switch to go between light assymmetry with 1n4148+1n4001 and more intense assymmetry at 1n4148+1n60 (screw symmetry! The Man wants you to be symmetrical!). lacking any W-taper or 2-5k linear pots, i got a more-responsive tone control using a 10k lin. pot with a 10k resistor in parallel across the outer lugs:

lastly is a gut-shot of my Crybaby rebuild that i did last month (or something). it uses an opamp for input & output buffers (somehow i wound up with an OPA2227) and retains the red Fasel from the original. 50k Q/range pot + toggle to add another 10nF in parallel with the original 10nF sweep cap (or whatever the kids are calling it these days). changed the feedback resistor value and one or two other things, too. i have to say, this sounds really, really awesome. much more pronounced than even the original when i'd modded it. i have a schematic, would need someone to check for errors, though. eat my shorts, Dunlop.

^that uses a 3PDT, yet i used a Mill. Bypass for the LED because i'm such a rebel. take that, society.

cheers, and sorry to ramble!! some of the pics here make me wish i wasn't so clumsy & scruffy with the aesthetic side of things!

The Jester / Madbean Chunk Chunk

This pedal is for a co workers son for christmas. The name of his band is Jester and his mom wanted me to build a metal pedal representing that, I think I pulled it off, and it's totally metal sounding for sure.

Thanks Dave. The board is recycled from a vcr remote control.

Very plain.  but 30 holes in this box.  Thirty.  No paint, no labels.  Next time.
Not a great choice for one's first from-scratch pedal.  Almost everything works.

I need help with a problem with this,two knobs don't work. - see http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=105154.0
And - How do you get the photo into the text?  I can't paste any valid entry into the [img thingy.

just build the pink pedal, then learn how to fight.

so I did. you won't find pinker.

it's a compressor. guess which.

and, this was finished prior to the above.

"tuva", being an fy2-variant, with "swinging hammer notch", orignal/v. nasty fuzztone select, and the saltboost option. I thort that cloth was paisley for years, right up until I'd finished glueing it. oh well.

This looks good, but it will require more maintenance than most pedals.  Every six months or so, you'll need to unplug it and flip it over.  I'm betting that when you do, you'll find that coins, picks and small woodland creatures fall out of it.  The joy of shag carpeting.  :-)

Seriously, nice and fun build.

So, the shag one is Pinker and Prouder Than Previous, then?
