I have some info on it in the murder one amp thread

I'm using frequencycentral's chargepump design to get 80~90vdc

I had the attenuator on half way, so I really should re-do the clip

If you have any other questions, let me know and I'll be sure to give you all the info I can!

Is that ADA885 subwoofer under ax84.com firefly amp? :icon_mrgreen: Do you use it as a speaker for this amp? T.

Not sure where 'Scapes gets his, but that looks exactly like the ribbon cable and head connectors I get from Futurlec. Shipping takes forever, but for components and whatnot, it's a great deal.

http://futurlec.com/Cable.shtml There's the cable...

http://futurlec.com/ConnHead.shtml There are some connectors that look similar. Make sure you pick up the header pins--they crimp on, and there's no removing them if something breaks, so they can be a bit of a pain to put together. Once they're in the box though, they're super easy to deal with.

You and my college roommate spotted that :)
I have it hooked up to my dvd player for listening to cds while in the living room. Good eye!

.. Good eye!

I own ADA885 set (and another Altec Lansing's /2.1/ set from that era as well) for more than 5 years and it still sounds great (plus I have bought it non-functional and fixed it, so it has additional and almost sentimental value for me ;)).. So it was easy :)

Really nice. quite a retro look. Looks a little bit like a toaster from the 50:s

Yeah, it looks really cool. It just needs a hamster running on an exercise wheel to complete it.

Whoa, that amp is awesome. Did you bend that enclosure yourself?

birt

nah, it's the chassis of a very old MBLE amp (made in Brussels, it's the factory that made ADZAM tubes). i took off all the paint, gutted the whole thing, sent it to a pro for the chrome and then built my own amp in it.
