Emulate a treble booster in Cubase?
« on: October 13, 2007, 08:11:56 PM »
Have found several stompboxes and guitar amps as vst plugins, but a really miss a treble booster.

Since it's a pretty simple construction IRL, and guess it could be possible to emulate a treble booster with existing plugins, but I need some more understanding about how it really works; As far as I understood it, a treble booster is basically a clean boost, but it only boost in a certain frequency range? Wrong or right? If right, are there any obvious differences between this, and doing the same thing with an equalizer?

I have Native Instruments Guitar Rig2. It has a Treble Booster effect. This is what it says in the manual about it:
"Treble boosters were used by Brian May of the group Queen, as well as Eric Clapton on the “Beano” album (when he was with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers) to push their tube amps into crispy, creamy distortion. Tony Iommi, Rory Gallagher, Ritchie Blackmore, and David Gilmour are other guitarists who used this technique. Also, many Fender Telecaster players would turn down the volume control slightly, which reduced the bass and created a similar effect when feeding high-gain amps.
Parameters
Bright, when turned down, reduces the boosting somewhat at the highest frequencies.
Boost sets the degree of boost."

Hope this helps!

A treble booster usually doesn't just boost the treble frequency, the gain also receives a little goose.
