i am looking to buy a laser printer for making boards with press n peel blue. there are some $50.00 jobs floating around  on ebay, but i am skepticle! i have had problems with using older/poor quality xerox machines where the PNP blue would not transfer onto the copper no matter how much cleaning, and ironing. is there something to look for when buying a laser printer that is good for making boards?
thanks,

Personally I think buying a used laser printer, without trying it out, is a risky proposition b/c it could be in bad need of maintenance/cleaning.  The last thing you want is a printer that prints poorly.  You also need to make sure you're not buying anything too old or obscure that  you can't get toner anymore for it:  My father-in-law gave us his old laser printer (for free thankfully ;o) ) , but it had been discontinued a few years before and toner cartridges are no longer available.  Basically we've been using it knowing that it's destined for the trash once the current toner runs out.  YMMV.

I bought a brand new HP 1440 laser from Office Depot for under $150.  That comes with a 1/2 full thing of toner as well.  I haven't had to buy one yet.  I have made SEVERAL prints off it.  It is a GREAT machine to use for general printing and this hobby.  I couldn't be happier!@!!
