Distortion + and the Matsumin's Valve Caster in the same stompbox?

Hey there!

Quick question. Do you think it would be feasible to put a Distortion + and the Matsumin's Valve Caster in the same stompbox to be controlled by the same footswitch? I would think the Dist + output to the valve caster input, any thoughts? Probably powered by the same 9V wall jack.

Hi Matt, I was messing around with my Valvy 002 just to give some help, If I can...
Well, I haven't got a Dist+, but I just tried with a DOD 308 (you surely know that it comes from the 250, fairly similar to the D+)
Anyway, it sounds quite nice on the D+ --->Valvy layout...Altough it seems to cut a little dinamics, but not that much, actually it drives the tube quite well...That with 308 gain set to midnight, at its minimum it's not so useful, while it is too noisy when pushed at its max...

It is just horrible changing pedals position...The signal got cut, too many frequencies are lost...
Say what you want, but yes, a valve can make the difference...And this lil' Matsumin creation lets every note sing clear...

Anyway, to answer your queston...Yes, it's not a bad idea to me...
My 2cents here... :icon_wink:

That was tremendous!!  Thank you so much for putting those up! The playing was spot on. And I now finally have an idea of what the valvecaster sounds like. There are some interesting dynamics happening when both the DOD and Valve are on.

I'm inspired and now I build!

I agree, seems there is a lot of minor differences just with a lil' knob spinning...

It would be great to try with my dod 250 grey I made (I have it borrowed to a friend of mine ATM)
I made it with a switch for the input cap (1nF-10nF) and a clipping switch (1N4148-red LEDs)

You'd have plenty of tonal solutions then!!!

Nice tones Renegadrian!  But I can only get the sound clip for the 2nd link.  The first link take me to a blog page?

Now I'm inspired to post a clip of my Matsumin in my rig.  It has become my #1 stomp box right now.

Checked again, it works...
