I just picked up this oscilloscope and I really know very little about what to do with it. It's a BK Precision 1541A, and it seems to work fine. So, what's it good for as far as stompbox or guitar building and modding? And to be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely sure I have a need for one, so it may end up on the For Sale/Trade Board. Any thoughts?

Here's a picture:

It's a bit dirty, but a little wipe with a damp cloth will clean it right up.

Good basic 'scope. Very nicely laid-out. 2 channels is a bonus. 40MHz for basic audio is IMHO a waste of 5 bucks, but it isn't like you can buy 5MHz 'scopes anymore.

Read any 'scope manual and training-docs. They all have the same knobs, more or less; skim parts about knobs you don't have.

I kinda wish I had started out with one like that. This is my $50 scope. F! me if I know what half the modes are for, or how to use them, but I understand enough to get what I need out of it.  :icon_biggrin:

Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!
