Has anyone built the Tillman guitar preamp (with 10uF cap in parallel w/ source on J201 mod) and the also the Stratoblaster? I'm just curious as to how the two compare. The Tillman preamp as I have modified it has a pretty good boost, probably 6-8dB. I have no experience with the Stratoblaster, though...

I stuck a Stratoblaster in front of a battery-powered amp and another in front of a vari-tone type notch filter.  Works fine.  Seems to provide a nice range of boost, though not thunderous gain.

I built both, but for 2 different guitars.

But they were designed more to isolate the guitar from amps and cables than for gain.

The Mosfet Booster and the Mini-Boosters are what I find best if I need some gain.

It depends on what you need.

I was just wondering, because the two schematics are pretty similar, except that it looks like the Tillman circuit has a higher input impedance. I imagine that with my 10uF cap mod, it must sound similar to the Stratoblaster in terms of the amount of boost that it provides.
