Should be ok if I mount it on the top of a 1590a?

DOD FX-25 - the 60th pedal I have successfully completed! Ta-dah! Sorry for not putting some pedal porn, but I forgot to make a photo before putting it into the box, and was too lazy to pull it out for shooting.  :icon_cool:

Delicious Ranko!  8)

Thanks!

I've been away from finishing pedals for a long time - really have no idea why, but I just soldered boards, tested them and put into the cardboard box. Then, somehow, ended with more than 20 pedals in that state. Probably because I really HATE drilling and making enclosures, and also had trouble with my printers and decals. Finally took some time+will to finish few, now I'm really happy!

Green (Pedal) Day pt. 2 - ROG Peppermill. Built this one with some kind of probably fake J201, but it works.

Please tell me you won't be mounting that thing... anywhere.

I've run out of enclosures so wondered if I could make my own 1590a. Not quite as tall as the wood stock wasn't thick enough so, the switch only just clears the baseplate. Fiddly PIA to make - I'll order some proper ones ;)

Nicely done, Kevin.  You'd give the duck a run for his money.  :)

Finished! A project that dragged along for about 18 month. 26 Overdrives in 1590a as a kind of Blind-Test (for the "what overdrives fits my p90 into amp XY with a XZ speaker"-guys). Covers probably most ODs that were hyped in the past 25 years.

Nice! And the winner is ... ???

That is...awesome?...scary?...amazing?...all of the above?

Not surprised it took 18 months. If it had been me, I'd have gone completely crazy after six months and then spent the next 12 months recovering!

Stunning work. Do we get a demo?!?  :icon_twisted:

Three things come to mind
1. Wow!
2. Why are some out of numerical order?
3. What does it sound like with them all on together :icon_twisted:

Honestly: I think I could get the sound I need for my band out of them all. There are a handful I do not really care for (eg. Hudson Broadcast, OCD), then there are those that are just a copy of others (eg Timmy <-> Jan Ray) and then there are those I really like (foremost the crazy versatile AEFEA from the esteemed Mark Hammer  :D, the Klon).

So, bottom line: I'd pick any of them and would be OK.

I have  got a friend who actually can play guitar and he just got himself a new looper. So there might be something in the making!

2. Why are some out of numerical order?

They are not. Are they? That's the signal path. I could have interchanged input and output in the middle row, then it would have been a tad more elegant. But then I guess it would have ed to confusion if they'd be taken from the board. After all, the convention is right in left out, right?

My bad Lars. Think my brain is going funny. Looked again and they're in order, once more and they're not. Prefer to call it an optical illusion rather than senility

It's almost poetic, what a way to capture the current zeitgeist of electric guitar music!

I was about to ask about that: half of them have to be takes on a Tube Screamer or Blues Breaker. Besides the audacity of it, what made you go for individual units instead of fewer pedals with options to cover all the variations where appropriate?

We've all done this, pedals with loads of switches and potentiometers, trimmers and whatnot to cover all the possibilities of a certain pedal type. But that's not really handy, I think. I once did a "Fuzz Face Tester" with a broad range of options plus two handful of selected transistors and sent it to fuzz nerds. Most of them were just overwhelmed and in the end went for the most expensive "boutique" clone with the funkiest name they could get their hands on. Plus, they swore those would "clean up better", have "more grit" and so on. Which, honestly, could have been recreated in the test machine.

So my 1590A overdrive overkill is a fun project with the added benefit of looking great. Of course, still people wpuld claim, that their Original or their Archer or their Ceriatone would sound better than any of these pedals (my Klon included). But if someone wants a double/triple/quadruple Overdrive to fit their settings and equipment, this machine might just be it.

By the way, this was the Fuzz Face Tester:

I must have been understandably mesmerized at first and missed the "for the what overdrives fits my p90 into amp XY with a XZ speaker-guys" part. I thought it was for your personal exploration but now it totally makes sense.

This is amazing, so much work! The first thing my kid would do would be turn them all on at once.
