Or, do what I do and isolate the input jack with some shoulder washers so you need the wire. 

This actually makes good sense to me, forcing you to think good connection rather than hope for it while leaving a single route to earth

That's the basic idea.  Also lets me avoid using the enclosure as a ground current conductor and allows me to provide a dedicated, clean ground for the input.  The downside? It increases my build costs by 0.3%.

I agree.  This stuff is always a pleasure to look at.  You've got me curious about one thing.  Has anyone written up an unofficial "style guide" for doing modern-day turret/tag/cordwood construction?

The TB MKII in its home.  Got a trio of 2N1305's in there.  Q1 has a leakage of 43 mA, hFE of 64.  Q2: 46 mA, hFE 76.  Q3: 65 mA, hFE 94.

But if you notice, the 100K resistor, the 4th one from the left, is a bit off center.

Yes. That resistor stands out like a sore thumb. It might even unbalance the whole circuit.
