Tone Bender MK II...I may have a problem.

alanp

I don't know why, but the TB MK2 turretboard makes me think of T'wreck Express amps.

Beautiful... but the trimmer seems out of place. I would go with a fixed resistor, or if a trimmer is a must, something more authentic looking like this;

I'm a sucker for turret or tag board though.

Or, do what I do and isolate the input jack with some shoulder washers so you need the wire.
This actually makes good sense to me, forcing you to think good connection rather than hope for it while leaving a single route to earth
That's the basic idea.  Also lets me avoid using the enclosure as a ground current conductor and allows me to provide a dedicated, clean ground for the input.  The downside? It increases my build costs by 0.3%.  :icon_razz:

I agree.  This stuff is always a pleasure to look at.  You've got me curious about one thing.  Has anyone written up an unofficial "style guide" for doing modern-day turret/tag/cordwood construction?

The TB MKII in its home.  Got a trio of 2N1305's in there.  Q1 has a leakage of 43 mA, hFE of 64.  Q2: 46 mA, hFE 76.  Q3: 65 mA, hFE 94.

Double Valvecaster board, build underway.

this one - doesn't have your signature inverted central resistor. I'll just have to imagine that middle brown cap has the print facing "the other way".

but nice.

But if you notice, the 100K resistor, the 4th one from the left, is a bit off center.  :P

stallik

Yes. That resistor stands out like a sore thumb. It might even unbalance the whole circuit. ;)
Seriously nice

To you, buffered bypass sucks tone.
To me, it sucks my balls.

I see a battery clip and mono jacks.  How do you turn it off?

No LED, but all lugs of the 3PDT are used. But you were kidding, right?

therm is concerned about the battery continuing to drain when the effect is bypassed (not kidding).  I was definitely kidding.  :icon_wink:

No I wasn't joking.  Didn't notice the switch situation.  So power off in bypass?  I didn't know people did that.  Does it pop?
