I decided to post a few things that I have learned this year.
All wire is definitely directional. What I did was rewire my amp again, but not with expensive teflon wire or solid silver etc… All I did was reverse the direction! The clarity was amazing. All this time that’s all it was. It took me a while to get the power amp section correct, I reversed the plate lead wires and this made a huge difference.
In addition, I realized that carbon comp resistors sounded twice as good if you use half the resistor value and double them up in series. GREAT SOUND! I can only imagine what it would sound like if you used 3 or 4 in series.
For pedals, it will usually sound better if you use thicker wire. It’s really hard to use the thickest wire possible, but the sound is amazing. Now you wish you never threw away that Weller Soldering GUN!
I always use 18 gauge buss wire in my pedal builds any more. You have to route them carefully to keep them from shorting, since there’s no insulation. Vice grips and channel locks come in handy for this. Or just use a bending brake if you have one available. But don’t insulate them! Don’t be tempted to use heat shrink or *anything* on them, as this will supress the toneful musicality of the thick, naked wire!!!
What a ridiculous claim. You’re give some really bad information here. Wiring two carbon comp resistors in series is pointless.
Everyone knows you have to have to use wire the carbon comp resistors in parallel to get the improved sound you’re describing. And you have to use exactly three of them.

You know how germanium transistors sound different when hot? I have found that if I add another switch to my fuzz pedals, hooked up to a cigarette lighter with an electronic ignition that shoots a small flame over the germanium, I can get it nice and crazy hot.
If I punch the switch at the start of my lead, it gets nice and crazy by the time my solo climaxes.
That, and the flames shooting up from my pedalboard create quite a show!
This year I’ve started adding an LED brighness pot to each of my builds. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before. It has immesurably brightened up my playing on those ‘off nights’ that we all have from time to time………
Usage of chickenhead knobs profoundly add’s magic to your tone.
As for amps… aluminiumfoil wrapped around the pentodes gives warmth and depth.
