Madbean's Nautilus, a modernized Mutron III. Ridiculously cool sounds that I've never heard from other filter.

I just finished boxing this a few minutes ago. It's a Randall X2Fet.   This is my first etched enclosure. The green paint ended up being flush with the top so it doesn't really look like an etch. :-\

Nice job!  Did you clear coat over it after painting the etch?

Mike-

WOW!! I really like the look of that.

I gave up on etching long ago! This just might inspire me to give it another go  ;)

What did you use for the image transfer??

No      Is it supposed to prevent oxidation?

No. Did you use PnP blue, magazine paper, etc.?

Ah ok. Magazine paper. I have found that Taylor's magazine 'Wood and Steel' has really good paper for doing toner transfers.

It could, but i really don't know.  I'm just trying to learn what other people do.

Ah ok. This is my first one so I am no authority on the subject. But I Printed the image on a page of 'Wood and Steel'. I made reference marks on the enclosure then heated it with the iron with a piece of paper in between. pressed the transfer on then placed a square of soft foam on it then a 14 pound bar of steel to weigh it down.   the foam gives it even pressure. I allowed it to cool then I soaked it in water to peel the paper off. Then I used electrical tape to mask the parts I didn't want etched. Then I warmed some ferric chloride and etched for 15 minutes while agitating to prevent bubbles.

Then the whole fill paint and sanding block etc...

+1 looks cool mike. :icon_twisted:

ive done a few shallow etches where the paint is level, its a nice effect, its like a waterslide without the dodgy edges...

i always clearcoat mine, it does stop it going dull...(on eddystones anyway) ;).....but that can be a nice effect too in a relic'd type way..
