Wow, that fricken rules. Great design and paint/sanding scheme.

Thanks for the kind words. I am still new to etching - the new etch is my fifth attempt. Here are my etches in chronological order:

Fuzz Factory

Modded/Stripped TS808

Modded/Tuned/Stripped High Gain TS808

Proco Rat (Tuned for Bass)

MXR DynaComp and Clean Boost

Thanks so much to the forum and its contributing members for the knowledge and willingness to share.

While I am obviously still a beginer I would offer to those just starting out my humble advice: Focus on the preparation of your enclosure. When you think you have prep sanded enough sand more! After that, more sanding! The enclosure needs to be free of any and all surface imperfections and be as flat as possible. I have also found that PNP Blue with additional nail polish over as much of the unexposed areas as possible maximizes your chances of a clean and 'burn free' etch.

oops, wrong thread...thought there was a Lot of etching in the pics thread... :icon_rolleyes:

Built as an Xmas gift for a big Raiders fan.

I only etched two pedals, because it's too much work. One of them made it to the Catalinbread website :-)

Nice, roseblood. Is that a 14 pin OD-1?

Heres my latest.one reverb and one ts808hw point to point.

It's a Black Cat OD-1, not a Boss OD-1... Very dynamic clipping based on a OP275, no diodes.

a sneaky peek preview of the spitfire v3..it'll have 3mm red/orange eyes like the original too... :icon_cool:. ;)

Really impressive stuff, guys. I've done a few,
but I'm wondering if you guys think this complicated art can make a good etch.

@hi jubal,  shading?....hmmm....ive never tried it....that might be a problem when it comes to etch imo...

i stick to solid bold lines....i'd be interested to see how a shaded etch comes out though!!!!...i bet slade has tried it.. ;)

but at the end of the day , i don't think its a good idea!!!...stick to bold stuff!... ;)

you may be better off sanding box, ironing image, then clearcoating instead....

@ deadastranaut !
thanks !

no shades, just plain ink
i use photoshop and i use only straight B&W .

wasp was made with paper magazine and  ferric chloride
and this one with muriatic acid / hydrogen peroxide with vinyl stickers.

deadastronaut

cool, that etch suits the leaf 'vein' pattern...

when i etch, i'm always tempted to dab in a bit of  paint, but really they look cool as f... a'u naturale after etching.....although i 'm tempted to try some translucent colours...just to see underneath/metal gradient too.... :icon_cool: :icon_cool: :icon_cool:

Depends on how sneaky you are with your pixelation. I failed on this one, but it still turned out good:
