Etched enclosures

Well, just finished an Overdrive with some Clippin´ Options, and tried to make an Old Style Box Look.

Wow! How did you do that rusty color?

It could be done with any of the metal pigment/oxidizer paint combo's I keep raving about.

Depending on material it could just be electrolysis induced oxidization...

But I suspect its brown paint.

I made that in an easier way.
After Etching the Box, I painted it with some kind of Patina called "Betún de Judea". I don´t know what´s the English name for that.
And, after it, for the golden and more brilliant parts, I used another kind of Patina called "Metal en Pasta", that would be something like "Mash Metal" in English.
Anyway, nothing that wouldn´t be found in an Art Store.

p.s, its not really an etch...just toner. 

So clean. How do you do that toner transfer?

hi pettol:

same as usual,  sand the box, export image from inkscape as pdf (which seems to retain sharpness) , iron...

i peeled the paper (tesco's 150gsm glossy) off when it was still pretty hot to touch...came off with no residue, and clean tonerless paper...very crisp.

then put under cold water and scrubbed with a toothbrush...though it didn't really need it...that's it...no clear coat.

the peel off when hot method has been 100% reliable. and sharp evey time.

Thanks deadastronaut. I've never been successful with photo paper, but with these details I might have better luck. (I user pnp for etching, but it leaves that blueish residue ).

Very cheap (I get mine from the £1 shop!) and has always produced consistent results. After ironing I wait for it to cool and then peel off, it leaves a whitish residue over the masked areas but you can just apply the acid straight on top, no extra scrubbing/peeling etc required, very easy!

There's no need to with the paper I use man, you can just apply the acid even though there's a residue, doesn't affect the etch. Might try that for just doing toner transfers like you did on your box though, been thinking about trying it on painted boxes

I've tried that but I couldn't get a good transfer without screwing up the paint. Now, someone just wrote about high temp paint (used for car engines) and that seems promising.
